You might want to make your own title or icon images, and make the background transparent. This looks very nice, and is easy to do. You need a 256 colour icon. First, in your image editor, reduce the colour level to 256 colours, if it isn't already. Then paint around the image with a solid background colour that's one of the main ones, and that isn't used in the icon. (We've already done that here ... it's where the red came from. It just as easily could have been unwanted background details in a picture). Save it as a BMP. Then, use Irfanviewer to load the picture and resave it as a GIF image, but as you do, select 'Options' and check off 'transparency', and enter the colour number. (Get the number first from the menu 'Image/palette/edit palette'; click on the colour and the value will appear below). Now when you put it on a page, only the icon itself will show, and not the background: The background is actually transparent, not white, so it will disappear on any colour background, including a textured one! |
