"Computer Science is a great field to get into if you can! There are all kinds of jobs available, and you can make a really good salary. Plus, you can get a job anywhere! You can get into a university computer course right from high school, and you will need a university degree in order to learn everything you need to know. Computer Science (as opposed to computer engineering, where you design and build computers) is about designing and writing computer programs using various computer languages. A good preparation would be to take computer programming in high school if it is available. Learn to program your calculator! Read books about programming ... learn Windows programming code, and Java, and HTML (there are lots of good books that will show you how ... there are even tutorials on the Web!) You will need to be good at math also. Check out your favourite university's website to see if they offer computer science courses. I only graduated two years ago, and I have had a job since the day I left school; in fact; I had about ten job offers. My salary is BIG compared to those of my friends, and I have great working hours ... sometimes I even work at home. If you are into computers, this is a great field to make your career!" |
