Translations on a Graph
As you have just learned on the 'Translation Information' page, the location of the translation vector is unimportant, so we'll set one up for you. We want to show a translation of [10, 2], or vector (10, 2). Turn on the graph, and press the 'Mode' button. Drag the top point of the vector arrow to (10, 7), and the bottom point to (0, 5). Make sure the translation vector in the bottom of the window says (10, 2). Adjust the arrow ends if necessary. Then click on 'Mode' again to turn it off, and try the exercise by following these instructions. When you're done, close the exercise window and then check your conclusion.
