The object (the brown dot) is reflected in the mirror line. Its image (the blue dot) appears on the opposite side of the mirror. Dragging the brown dot around will reveal the principle of reflection: the perpendicular distance to the mirror is the same for the object and the image. Use the 'Mode' button to put dots on the line, to enable you to move it around (drag the red dots). Then click on the 'Mode' button again, and move the object some more. Regardless of the position of the mirror line, the image is always the same distance from this line as the object.
