ADAPTATIONS
The Lizard
by Mandy F.

Lizard adaptations:
  • Some lizards are able to regenerate lost body parts such as a tail, when it has been separated.
  • Lizards have a long, sticky tongue to snatch and consume food; their tongue can sometimes stretch the length of their body.
  • Lizards have strong, thin, sharp claws to help it escape by climbing trees quickly away from predators.
  • Some lizards can avoid drinking water for long periods of time; this is beneficial for lizards that live in the desert, where there is little water.
  • Some lizards have the ability to change their body colour to that of the surroundings, to hide from predators.
