Specific Heat Capacity
by Chris K.

Here are some sample problems worked out, to show you how specific heat capacity works.

C = represents specific heat capacity in J/(kg degC)
E = represents energy in J
M = represents mass in kg
T = represents the amount of change in temperature in Celsius degrees

'Calculate the specific heat capacity of a substance if it takes 2000J of energy to raise the temperature of 500g of the substance from 22 deg C to 102 deg C'

'A certain gas has a specific heat capacity of 500; find the energy needed to raise 6 kg of the gas from 20 deg C to 50 deg C'
