We found a program that is the perfect solution for displaying distance, velocity and acceleration graphs for a moving object that you control. This program is so good, you'll want all your students to get it and play with it! The program is self installing, and easy to operate. You control the thrust on the rocket backpack of a skater, who moves across the screen with an acceleration. As he moves, the program will display a displacement, velocity, or acceleration graph. You can even add air resistance! Students will instictively see the relationship between the three quantities. We wanted to show you the screen (slightly edited to fit the page here): the picture is a large one, but it's worth the wait. Distortions are due to compreesion of the screen image. And of course, the actual program screen is dynamic ... the skater moves, and the graphs draw themselves. You can print out the results as well! ![]() We highly recommend this program, and plan to use it in our own classroom! |
