This is a contest where we're asking you to draw a gizmo that does something useful, but in a silly way! Our gizmo above is a very clever device for turning on a computer! Can you figure out all the steps? The gizmo you create should have 4 or 5 different actions, like ours. It can do anything you want it to, as long as it looks like it would work. If you draw your gizmo on paper, you will have to scan it into your computer. Make sure you save it as a .jpg file. But it might be easier if you drew it using Windows' 'Paint' program ... then it's almost ready to send! See the important note near the bottom, for special instructions. Send us your finished drawing by e-mail attachment. Include in your message a description of what your gizmo does, and how it does it. Don't forget to include your name. We'll post the best ones here, and award a nice prize to the gizmo that is the most creative! (We may even animate it for you!) Send your picture to Please don't send the image if it is a bitmap file (ending in .bmp). Pictures made by 'Paint' are bitmap files, and they are very large! Before sending your picture, convert it to a .jpg file. This type of picture takes up much less memory on your computer, but more importantly, will transmit with your email message a lot faster! Unfortunately, 'Paint' won't convert it for you. You'll need another image program. If you don't know how to convert your image to a .jpg file, you will probably need a copy of a small program which will do it for you. You can download our free Irfanview program. After you unzip it, put it in a folder somewhere (it doesn't need to be installed), and run it. Load your picture (for example, mygizmo.bmp). Then choose 'save as', and save it as mygizmo.jpg Then send it to us as an email attachment. |
