Mountainous, High Altitude

People living at higher altitudes in this region of the United States, (in Denver, for example), are already breathing 'thinner' air. They take in 15% less oxygen with each breath than we do.
There is probably a connection... less oxygen intake, combined with clogged lungs from smoke, translates as more people dying from emphysema and bronchitis.
(No detailed medical explanation has yet been discovered, however.)
