Worsley's Students Against Drunk Driving chapter was formed in early November 2002. For their first activity Danae, Vicky, Jessica and Shay travelled to Edmonton with Kenda and Taunya for a S.A.D.D. conference. There they were educated on running a SADD organization, and they were able to listen to variety of different powerful speakers. Since then, S.A.D.D. has tried to make an impression on our student body and our community by setting up Drinking and Driving Awareness bulletin boards and speaking to students about the danger of impaired driving.

At our Christmas concert, we were a part of the program and did a 'break-dancing special', followed by a reading from a mother who lost her son in an accident with a drunk driver. During the holidays, S.A.D.D. prepared liquor bags, which were decorated by the elementary students with warnings and captions such as 'Don't Kill my Mom'. These were distributed to establishments selling alcohol, and were taken very seriously throughout the community.

S.A.D.D. supporters could be spotted by their 'awareness' ribbon tied to their vehicle's antennae; we sold these as a fundraiser.

S.A.D.D's biggest activity this year was a multi-media presentation brought from Edmonton on March 31st. The group had viewed it at the conference they attended earlier in the year, and decided it would be a good experience for the entire student body to see it. Three presentations were made, including 'Drinking & Driving' and 'Peer Pressure and Substance Abuse' for the Jr/Sr classes, and 'Bullying' for the elementary. The presentations made quite an impact on students and staff. They were made possible by generous donations from local companies and organizations.

We hope that people will make the right decision when faced with these issues, and that S.A.D.D has accomplished what it set out to do: making a difference in people's choices.
