Eligibility to Participate in Sports: Grades 7-12

Worsley School strongly believes that students benefit from sports, and we continue to support our sports teams throughout the school year as they represent our school. However, as a school we also believe that academic achievement should be our first priority.

Our teachers work diligently to ensure that students are successful. They provide extra help when asked, and will take in late assignments so that students can show what they have learned. We provide a Study Hall at noon for students who have difficulty completing homework in the evenings.

There is no reason that all students in our school cannot be successful in their courses, or put in a strong effort towards achieving success.

Students who are playing on sports teams must show that they have, or are working towards having a minimum 50% standing in all of their courses. They also must have all assignments handed in by at least two days prior to a game or tournament. Students taking Distance Learning courses need to show that they are making steady progress.

Students who do not meet these requirements will not be permitted to attend games or tournaments as a player. They will be placed on a 'no-play' list, and will remain on it until they have met the requirements of this policy. Students will still be allowed to attend practices, and we will encourage coaches to have players work on getting caught up.

Students participating in games or tournaments must be present in school on the day of the game or tournament.
