As per policy, buses will not operate when the morning temperature at 6:00 am is -40 degrees C or colder. In this event, an announcement will be made via the local radio stations that all buses in the affected areas will not run that day.
The drivers have the opportunity to shut down their bus runs if they feel it is unsafe to transport students. If a bus driver does not operate, the driver will notify the radio stations that their bus will not run that morning. (However, they are expected to operate for the afternoon run.)
If students are to be sent home early on buses due to inclement weather, advance notice will be given to schools so they can contact the parents of elementary children. No school will allow an elementary child on the bus if their parents or guardians have not been contacted. If the bus leaves before contact has been made, the parent will be responsible to arrange for transportation home for their child.
