Bus Policy:
What May Be Carried On A Bus

Students may carry personal effects and band instruments onto the bus that are concealed in the proper container, provided the items:
  a)  can be stored under the seats and do not extend into the aisle, or block the emergency exit, or
  b)  can be held on the student's lap
Larger instruments may be allowed if the bus is equipped with overhead racks.

Skates may be transported on a school bus provided the blades are protected by blade guards, and the skates are carried in a heavy durable sports bag. Under no circumstances shall skates be transported in plastic or paper bags.

Restricted Articles Not To Be Transported:

  1. Animals or birds, caged or otherwise restrained.
  2. Firearms, ammunition, or explosives, whether inoperable or not, or any replica thereof.
  3. Equipment such as skis & poles, toboggans, snowboards, sleighs, snowshoes, curling brooms, hockey sticks, golf clubs, skateboards, or any item that will not fit under the seats, while maintaining a clear aisle.
  4. Flammable substances & materials, which includes fuel for camp stoves and Coleman lanterns, even if it is contained in prepackaged LPG containers.
  5. Anything of a dangerous or objectionable nature, or anything that may endanger the safety of the persons on the bus.
Any request from teachers, principals, or others, to carry articles not mentioned in the above section, must be made to the Transportation Manager, not to the bus driver.

When schools are planning field trips requiring restricted articles, arrangements will need to be made to have a personal vehicle haul the equipment separately.
