Calculators in High School

All students in High School Math courses must have a calculator for use in the classroom, as some topics we cover require the use of a calculator. However, Jr. High students do not need a graphing calculator:

Grades 7 and 8 Math:

Students require a simple four-function calculator only.
A slightly more expensive scientific calculator may be used instead, if a student wants to become familiar with it before Grade 9, but this isn't necessary.

Grade 9 Math, Math 14/24:

Students require a scientific calculator, which must do exponents, roots, and trigonometry. $20 is an average price. Make sure you get one that enters data forwards rather than backwards. if you're not sure what this means.

Pure and Applied Math 10/20/30:

Students are required to have a TI83+ or TI84 graphing calculator. Only this brand and model is acceptable. Prices range anywhere from $110 to $150 ... shop around! This calculator can also be used for all Sr. High science courses.
