Olympia, Washington
Martin Kane lives near Olympia, Washington, and sent us this information:
"We live in the South Puget Sound region in western Washington, the northwestern-most state in the contiguous 48 states. Olympia is the state capitol, and is a coastal town with an active sea port. We have mild winters with lots of rain, and occasional light snowfalls, and we have lush vegetation (to say the least!) with lots of mossy growth during the rainy winter months.

The Olympic peninsula is to the west of us, where the rainfall is even heavier in the winters. The Olympic National Park encompasses several temperate rain forests. To the east of us are the Cascade Mountains, a stunningly beautiful range which includes Mt. Rainier.

On clear days like today, a lovely view of Mt. Rainier is visible from Olympia. We are having unusually warm weather here in Olympia this spring (2004). Our camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas are blooming, and the lilacs are in bud. Thank you for having such a great website. Our children have been enjoying it!"
