Benji graduated in 2002, and is currently in St. Albert. He writes: 'I am attending Paul Kane High School working on all my 30 subjects plus my third year of German. I play in the band at the German Club in Edmonton. I am into keeping fit and basketball. No junk food for this guy! My best memories of WCS include my friends and teachers , my bus drivers, basketball games and all the nice girls. Also my gang, and being a part of my teacher's wedding, leading her dog in the wedding. Also all the help a special teacher Miss Pam McNeil gave me: thanks a lot. Derek and Angela were staff members at WCS most recently in 2000. They currently live in Wainwright, Alberta, where Derek is a counsellor at Blessed Sacrament School, in Wainwright, and Angela is teaching Kindergarten in Hughenden. They are the parents of Haidyn Kennedy. Angela's best memories? She writes: "All memories [of Worsley] are wonderful. Coaching volleyball with Lisa was a highlight for me. Derek's favourite was, in his words, 'Beating my wife's record in coaching winning games of volleyball'. It is amazing to see how my 'young' grade 3's and 4's are not so young anymore! We miss everyone in Worsley so much. Worsley is such a wonderful community and you should feel very proud to live there!"

Pam was a teacher at WCS. She is currently a teacher in Unity, Saskatchewan, teaching core subjects in grade 7 and English in grade 9. She writes: "I have too many fond memories of Worsley Central to narrow it down to just one, but to mention a few ... the pranks Benny H. pulled in class during grade 9, the Macbeth rap I 'attempted', Landon and his poetry, and Kristin convincing me to buy one of her 'paintings' for twenty dollars! Josh is attending the University of Alberta in Edmonton, taking a Bachelor of Science program which he hopes will eventually lead him into the medical field. He writes: " I have many memories of Worsley School. Lots include Grant and our 'excursions' in vehicle(s) during noon hour. Other fond memories include tormenting Mr. Willis with digitally altered pictures, Students' Council, and generally being with my friends. People always say that university is so great because you get to study what you want to - WRONG! Haha! Seriously, enjoy school. Worsley has a lot to offer and to be thankful for - this becomes even more evident once you leave!"

Amber, who graduated in 2001, is currently working for an insurance broker in Nanton, Alberta. She tells us: "My favourite memory of WCS is probably my grade 12 year. As a class we banded together and probably became the first class not reduced to tears or name-calling over colours, music or all the other things that seem so important when you are planning for Grad. That and bugging Andrew about being so short.
I just want to say Hi to everyone who is still back home, and those who visit the page like I do to get a 'Worsley fix'. You have no idea how much you will miss that place until you leave. Dave Dies was principal at Worsley School during the 1997-98 year.He is currently living in Mississauga, Ontario, and is retired, although he is still teaching a few classes for this semester. Shelly Glen taught at Worsley for several years. Her last year here was 1997-98. She is currently teaching Math, Science, and Computers at Sherwood Height Junior High School in Sherwood Park, Edmonton.
Her favourite memory of WCS is the Christmas Banquet for the whole school, just before the holidays. She sends these greetings:
"Hi, everyone! It's only taken me what, four months to get here?! It just seems like the new school year started yesterday and here we are at Christmas!
Things have changed a lot in the last few months for me. My new school has 570 students from grade 7-9 - just a little different from Worsley. In some ways it's nice, but I do miss knowing all the students I see in the school and I'm still learning names. Otherwise, I'm really happy where I am. I'm a little "Worsleysick", though, after looking through the pictures of your smiling faces! Please e-mail me - I'd love to hear about how you're doing and what you've been up to. Merry Christmas, everyone!"

Denise graduated from WCS in 1995. She is currently living in Foremost, Alberta, and she tells us: ' I have my Early Childhood Development Diploma and I am working as an educational assistant in a local school with almost 300 students in Grades 4-12. I work mostly with Grades 5 and 9.'.
Denise's favourite memory is 'Skipping our last English 30 class and going cruising with the gang and Mr. Rainka in his Rabbit convertible. Then there was also the Grade 7 end-of-the-year trip to Running Lake ... remember that one Lori J.   LOL'

Stan was a teacher and coach here at WCS in 1992-93. He is currently living in Laredo, Texas, where he is teaching Health, Phys Ed., and athletics at a middle school of about 1400 students. He is also coaching high school football and baseball.
Stan remarks: "Karie was looking at the new pictures from this year's Yearbook and started seeing pictures of the kids that were babies when we were there! Ty and Brent Gibson were easy to figure out ... they look just like Cindy. Even Emily ... Karie figured out the grade in no time. She asked that I send you what has happened with our kids and asked if you could pass them on to all who made us feel welcome our two years in Worsley. Tori's a freshman and plays volleyball, basketball (of course) and track. Teague's in sixth grade and plays baseball, basketball, and just started hockey. Blayze, who no-one up there knows, is the baby at seven and is in second grade, and he's the big hockey player in the family. Take care, Stan Kowalski."

Kenda Lubeck

Kenda is a former student from 1991. She now lives in Grande Prairie and work for UFA Cooperative Ltd. as a Member Relations Representative. She tells us: I have two whippet dogs and three horses. I ride as much as I can in my spare time and compete in dressage and eventing. One of my favourite memories of Worsley School was riding my horse to school.

She tells us: Hello WCS, I am a former student who graduated in '93 from WCS. I am Heather Morrow now but most of you will have known me as Heather Sargeant. I am married to a grain farmer and live at Kelvington Saskatchewan. We have two children ages 6 and 4. I love being a mom, and on the side I am a substitute bus driver and educational assistant. She writes: "I am taking Early Childhood Development at Lakeland College in Vermillion, and having a great time away from my little sister. My favorite memory of Worsley was the people ... and the 2001 Grad, because that brought back a lot of old memories. Hi everyone ... Mark and Audra are former teachers at Worsley (~1995). Currently, Mark is Principal at the Riverbend Hutterite Colony School in Neepawa, Manitoba. Jeanie tells us that the most fun she ever had at WCS was the time she beat up Curtis Clay in Social 30 class.

Delainah graduated in 1999. She tells us, "I am currently working at Worsley Central School and Hines Creek Composite School as an Educational Assistant. I am also married to Brandon, and we have 3 wonderful boys. My favorite memory of school was our trip to Yellowknife when Tina and I were in grade nine, and we got to play with the senior high team. We had to travel on this tiny bus with senior boys and senior girls on it. The bus was so cramped that Cindy Gibson had to spend most of her time sleeping on the luggage in the back of the bus! This was the first trip we ever took to Yellowknife. There were more trips to follow, but none as interesting as this one!! We had a very awsome coach at the time, Ginger Patton; she made the trip memorable for all of us.

Rod & Jan Bennett

The Bennetts were on staff at WCS last in 1985; Rod taught Social Studies here for several years. The Bennetts live in Collingwood, Ontario; Rod is the Head of Canadian & World Studies at Collingwood Collegiate, and Jan is teaching Grade 2 at Mountainview P.S. Rod writes: 'Our daughter Joanna, who was born in Fairview, is going into her third year at UBC, and our daughter Ella is at U of Guelph studying history & politics. We have too many memories of WCS to mention. We had the greatest time in Northern AB in the early 80's. It was a great community, with great teachers and friends. We're looking at trying to organize to get to the 2005 reunion/community celebration'.

Just did a search on the net and I've discovered your web page for Worsley Wildcats! What a fantastic idea and a remarkable job implementing it! My kids loved the art galleries and the science dept. best. One is now drawing pictures using up all my printer paper and the other trying to blow up the bathroom!
Just thought I'd drop a line an say thanks for the site. Keep it up. The school sure seems to have changed a lot; my best memory of WCS (not Math class, unfortunately), was the sense of humor and tolerance by the teachers who put up with us! It looks as though you have done an unbelievable job moving it into the new millenium. Josh W. is your Jr. webmaster? He was just a wee gaffer the last I saw him. Not even in school yet! Jackie was a student at WCS, and graduated in 1987. Currently she is on the substitute teacher list for the Peace River School Division, and occasionally teaches at Worsley. She also runs a gravel and water hauling business for her mother. Jackie remembers her 'old' teachers (no offense intended, Mrs Shilka) and some of the students. She writes: ' I love what the staff and students of recent years have done to revamp our school --the new renovations and updates look great, and go a long way to increasing morale. I'm also very proud of Worsley's website, and national acclaim. Who says you need to be big to be good? Have a great year, everyone!'

Roger Humbke was Principal of WCS in 1989-90. Recently he has lived in The Peoples' Republic of China. He writes: "My oldest daughter found the 1989-90 staff picture in your 'Vault'. It was wonderful to see what you have been doing in Worsley. I fully know what effort you or someone must have put in to create and especially maintain such a website."
Roger sent us more information about his life in China, and some pictures; you can see what he sent by visiting the China section of our Visitors Centre. Currently (2007) Roger is in Portugal. He writes: "I am in Portugal training steamfitters for employment at Fort McMurray. Portugal is a wonderful country with great people and fabulous food. I strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys traveling".

She was married in 1999, and currently lives in West Caldwell, New Jersey, USA, where she has been teaching grade 7/8 science and math at a private school. In more recent correspondence with us, she tells us that, following the birth of her son Spencer in February 2001, she has stopped working in order to stay at home with him. Barbara says, "My son is wonderful, and David & I are loving being new parents ... and it is great for my parents to finally be grandparents. My best memories are of the great friends and teachers who I have unfortunately lost track of over the years. Winning basketball zones against Hines Creek and going to provincials was also a high point!! I would love to hear from those grads of the late 80's and early 90's, and hear what is new with you."

Beccy was last a student here at WCS in 1972; she currently lives and farms in Eureka River, Alberta. Her favourite memories are Grade 2, Grade 9 Initiation, and Graduation. She sends us this note from just down the hall, where she's taking a computer course; she writes, "Just thought I'd say hello ... this computer lab was my grade 1 classroom in 1960-61, and my grade 7 classroom in 1966-67!"

I enjoyed the Oueen of Hearts 1966 when I was the Queen; I remember the young Lee Wright who helped put me there by selling lots of tickets. I loved the dances and basketball games against Hines Creek High. I remember being the skip on a school curling team; Evelyn Stephenson helped me and we won. I remember the long bus ride, and all my friends. I remember all the teachers ... Mrs.Maxwell teaching us music, etc and I remember who was with who! Please email me ."

She tells us: "My favourite memory is of watching the two Danny's (if they see this, they'll know who they are) 'goof off' in class, playing hockey with rulers and erasers. They thought the teachers never saw them, but I'm sure they did. Those were fun and carefree days!! Hi to everybody, especially former classmates. Mary was a student at Worsley School in 1968. She currently lives in Edmonton. She writes "I am a mother of two boys 15 and 20. I am an accountant and computer technician, but I have given that up to go back to college, to take the Rehabilitation Practitioner course. My favourite memories of Worsley: Since we are Jamaicans and did not know about the cold weather, it was a challenge to get around in the winter. But I remember a lot of friendly people at the school, and my teacher Mrs. Nelson, who herself was from England if my memory serves me right. My father taught at the school for a while; his name is Wessel Williams. We came to Worsley after my father left his teaching position in Ponoka. He is still very much alive and well at the age of 90. I remember the Guy's, Mrs Maxwell, and the Teagardens. Many of these folks have probably passed on, or moved away. It is nice to see a web site for the school; I am doing some research for a project, and to my surprise this site came up on my site ... this is just great."
